Asylum and Migration Capacity building of national asylum and migration management systems
Functioning national asylum and migration management systems ensured and the right to seek asylum safeguarded
The programme aimed to establish functional asylum and migration management systems and help asylum seekers exercise their fundamental rights. This included projects such as “Inclusion Code” and “INtegration: Through school into community.” The target groups were third-country nationals with a focus on unaccompanied minors, and vulnerable groups (see the project of ARSIS, or the Hellenic Police). The programme has also strengthened bilateral relations with international organizations and partners from donor countries, such as NORCAP, a part of the Norwegian Refugee Council.
The main design axes of the program were:
- Enhanced capacity in asylum management
- Improved strategic and contingency planning
- Improved services for vulnerable groups, especially unaccompanied minors
- Enhanced reception capacity
The programme was carried out with the advisory guidance and cooperation of the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (Utlendingsdirektoratet – UDI), which is the programme partner from the donor countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). Additionally, the programme included the participation of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
