EEA Grants 2021-2028
The new funding period of the EEA Grants 2021–2028 in Greece
Greece is entering the new funding period of the EEA Grants 2021–2028, with the aim of further strengthening social and economic cohesion, promoting a green and just transition, and deepening cooperation with the Donor States: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
The EEA Grants are an important funding mechanism through which the three Donor States contribute to reducing social and economic disparities in the European Economic Area, while also strengthening bilateral relations with the beneficiary countries. In Greece, the new 2021–2028 period continues and builds on the experience of previous funding periods, making use of the results, partnerships and good practices already developed.
For the new period, the total allocation for Greece amounts to €143 million. These resources will support programmes and actions that respond to contemporary challenges and development needs, with a focus on areas such as green transition, social protection, innovation, good governance and the strengthening of cooperation at local and European level.
The new programming period places sustainable, inclusive and resilient solutions at its core. Through the actions to be implemented, the aim is to strengthen policies and practices that contribute to environmental protection, social inclusion, support for vulnerable groups, innovation, and the improved functioning of institutions and services.
Particular emphasis is also placed on bilateral cooperation. The EEA Grants are not only a funding mechanism, but also a framework for the exchange of knowledge, experience and expertise between Greece and the Donor States. This cooperation supports the development of common solutions, the creation of networks and the transfer of good practices in key policy areas.
The implementation of the new period will be based on the principles of transparency, accountability, accessibility and effective communication. Informing citizens and stakeholders about opportunities, progress and programme results is an essential part of the overall implementation of the EEA Grants in Greece.
The 2021–2028 period marks a new phase of cooperation and shared effort. Guided by the message “Working together for a green, democratic and resilient Europe”, the EEA Grants in Greece continue to support actions with meaningful social impact, contributing to a greener, more democratic and more resilient Europe.
