JANUARY 2025

Each new year invites us to reflect on what has come before. We recall memories, knowledge transformed into experience, and relationships. At the same time, we chart new days filled with fresh goals and wishes that will bring our dreams and desires to life.

For the first e-newsletter of 2025, we’ve gathered some of the moments that brought us joy through their realization, as well as the opportunities they created for the future.

In the featured article, we delve into the values and emotions shared by those of us in the Grants community in Greece—a thread that weaves through our shared past, present, and future.
Here’s to a beautiful and fulfilling year,

Renewables meet geothermal and offshore wind

The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving travelled to Iceland and Norway, where expertise was shared between the achievements of the “Renewable energy resources” programme in Greece and knowledge from key partners in the donor countries. These meetings—and discoveries—bring us closer together, not only as nations but also as individuals working toward a common goal. They pave the way for real-world applications of the green transition in our country while embodying the very philosophy of CRES.

A collection of successes in collaboration with donor countries

In 2024, six (6) projects under the Bilateral Fund were completed, with a total budget of €773,787.92. These projects spanned diverse sectors, including culture, the environment, wind energy, youth employment, and gender equality, as well as support for families and displaced individuals from Ukraine. Our valued partners included Doctors of the World, The Smile of the Child, ELIAMEP, the Onassis Stegi, and ELETAEN…

The values of collaboration as a legacy

We took great joy in collaborating with all stakeholders, both in the implementation of the projects and in communication efforts. Together, we shared knowledge and co- created meaningful experiences. We worked hand-in-hand within a shared value system based on respect, acceptance, honesty, trust, and empathy.

We “Closed” the 2014–2021 Funding Period…

…with two workshops in April and July. In Athens, we hosted the EEA Grants community from the donor countries and across Greece. Representatives of the Financial Mechanism, program operators, and implementing entities engaged in a productive exchange, sharing lessons learned over the past five years, practical\ advice for project completion, and optimistic perspectives for the future and the new funding period.

“We are proud of our work”

The programme “Roma Inclusion and Empowerment” was implemented in an
environment of “solidarity and support, ethical and fair treatment, mutual trust, and transparency. It focused on developing support structures, enhancing social and educational services, and increasing accessibility and inclusion,” say those who participated.
