Roma Inclusion and Empowerment

Enhanced inclusion and empowerment of Roma

The integration of Roma communities addresses broader issues, such as unemployment, education, and health, as well as the promotion of equal treatment and respect for the fundamental rights of the Roma. Task Force units were established in regions with high concentrations of Roma populations, including Attica, Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, and Western Greece. Their goal was to effectively implement the National Strategy for Roma Social Inclusion 2021-2030, which covers all social inclusion policies (housing, education, health, etc.) in concert with other projects aimed at empowering Roma women and youth. These projects include activities to disseminate information, raise awareness, break stereotypes, empower Roma civil organizations, and support the participation of Roma children in summer camps. The objective has been to enhance their coexistence with other peers, strengthen their personalities through sports, recreational, and educational activities, and challenge negative stereotypes through cohabitation and participation in group camping activities and sports.

The Task Force’s work resulted in the production of the first documentary within the framework of the EEA Grants in the country, which you can watch here.
