Hosp4All – Inclusive Healthcare Navigation and Alert System

Hosp4All is an innovative European project that helps people with disabilities—especially those who are blind or have low vision—move safely and independently inside hospitals. It uses smart technology to make healthcare spaces more inclusive and easier to navigate.

Where is it happening?

The project is currently being tested at the University General Hospital of Patras in Greece, with the goal of expanding to more hospitals and public spaces in the future.

How does it work?

Hosp4All combines several tools to support users:

  • A mobile app that gives voice instructions and vibration feedback
  • Bluetooth sensors for accurate indoor navigation
  • Tactile tiles and signs designed for easy use by visually impaired visitors
  • Smart tags with SOS buttons for emergency help
  • Real-time tracking for both patients and medical equipment

These features allow people to move around the hospital on their own, safely and confidently.

Who’s behind it?

Hosp4All brings together partners from Greece and Norway:

Why it matters

Hosp4All is not just about technology—it’s about dignity, independence, and equal access to healthcare for all. Though focused on visual impairments, the system can also support other vulnerable groups in the future.
