Local Development and Poverty Reduction

Strengthened social and economic cohesion

The “Local Development and Poverty Reduction” programme in Greece improved social cohesion and reduce economic and social inequalities. The programme focused on specific geographical areas and targeted groups vulnerable to social and economic exclusion. It included activities to promote social and economic development, combat discrimination, and build capacity for vulnerable individuals to enhance their employment prospects. The programme also aimed to improve the quality and accessibility of social welfare services, as well as to create and strengthen networks and policy exchanges between municipalities.

The programme had three main outcomes:

  • Outcome 1: Integration of refugee children into Greek schools
  • Outcome 2: Increased opportunities for inclusion and social integration of vulnerable individuals
  • Outcome 3: Increased opportunities for the integration of unemployed individuals into the labor market.

You can watch short videos and listen to radio interviews in Greek to explore the stories of both the beneficiaries of the Programme and the people who worked on it.
