This inclusive cultural education project explores intangible heritage and fosters knowledge exchange between Limnos (Greece) and Oslo (Norway). Coordinated by Places & Traces, the project draws inspiration from bread culture, highlighting its community significance while integrating expertise in education, heritage, and the environment.
Focusing on the use of ancient and traditional seeds, the role of bread-making in community life, and the techniques and equipment involved, the project seeks to bridge past and present traditions.
Key Activities – Spring 2025, Limnos
In collaboration with Fragment and Sanke, Places & Traces will organize and implement a series of activities, including:
- Experiential Workshop for Adolescents – Engaging students, including those with disabilities, in hands-on learning about bread-making traditions.
- Community Workshop – Open to the public, exploring bread as a living tradition, a cultural meeting point, and its links to sustainability and climate change.
- Local Knowledge Exchange – Showcasing traditional bread-making methods and beliefs unique to Limnos, fostering dialogue with the local community.
- Institutional Knowledge Transfer – A discussion on grassroots collective initiatives and integrating bread culture into education.
Additionally, the project will develop accessible educational materials tailored for students with learning disabilities, ensuring inclusivity in cultural education.
By combining heritage, sustainability, and education, this initiative aims to create meaningful cultural connections between Limnos and Oslo while preserving and celebrating bread culture as a shared tradition.
