Celebrating three decades of impactful action, the National Focal Point is marking 30 years of the EEA Grants in Greece. This milestone will be commemorated with two open events in Thessaloniki and Athens, alongside a special art installation that captures the essence of these years of support and progress.
The European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA FM), known as EEA Grants, reflects the dedication of Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein to reduce economic and social disparities and foster closer connections with 15 European Union member states. Through a wide range of initiatives, these three countries have promoted sustainability, social inclusion, and human dignity, supporting vulnerable communities and advancing green transition and democratic principles.
The first celebration will be held in Thessaloniki on Saturday, November 2, during the 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Hosted at 1:00 p.m. in Frida Liappa Hall in Warehouse D at the port, this event will gather government officials, representatives from EEA countries, local authorities, and beneficiaries of EEA Grants to share their insights and stories.
Additionally, a new art installation titled “30 Years–30 Images” will make its debut. Constructed from wood, metal, and other sustainable materials, this display features 30 photographs showcasing significant EEA Grants projects. Situated outside Warehouse D, the installation will be open to the public until November 7 and will be lit at night using LED lights and solar panels.
The second event will take place in Athens on Tuesday, November 12, at 5:00 p.m. at Zappeion Megaron. Representatives from the donor countries and Greece will join an open discussion on the impact of EEA Grants funding on reducing inequalities and fostering bilateral relations. This event will also be a platform for networking and exchanging ideas on Europe’s future and the role of social solidarity.
We warmly invite you to join us in this celebration, as behind every achievement are the people who work, strive, and create together.
